Charlie Rangel Steps Down
by Steve on Mar.03, 2010, under Uncategorized
Finally, after a laundry list of ethical violations that would have landed any non-congressperson in jail or, at a minimum with frozen assets from the IRS, Rangel steps down from the position of the powerful House Ways and Means Chairman. When Nancy Pelosi told us that she was going to run the most ethical house in the history of the planet, she surely must have considered that Charlie Rangel might be a blemish?
Too many high ranking politicians and bureaucrats don’t seem to be able to figure out their own taxes. How is it that we turn over so much responsibility of managing this country’s affairs to people who either are too incompetent to manage their own affairs properly or too corrupt to manage their affairs according to the rules that they demand each one of us comply?
Charlie Rangel, resign your seat in congress and go home in shame.
Trijicon ACOGs and Bible Verse
by Steve on Jan.21, 2010, under Defense
It’s been reported that Trijicon ACOGs have references to Bible verses on them. This is causing much consternation to people who must have a lot of time to kill. The argument is that these verses may offend Muslim Terrorists. These people with so much time on their hands are calling for the military to stop using the Trijicon ACOGs.
Time to change the Mags
by Steve on Jan.13, 2010, under Uncategorized
If you store your magazines loaded, and let’s face it, if your magazine aren’t loaded, you’re not ready, then the springs will begin to show fatigue over time. The best cure for this is to keep sets of magazines. Keep some loaded and some some empty. Then alternate them. A safe trick is to use the holedays as reminders on when to alternate. My personal method is to use the holidays and alternate the mags on New Years and the Fourth of July.
I didn’t get around to changing my mags on New Years but I did have a chance to do it yesterday. And emptying the mags is my favorite part. Went to the range and filled and emptied them several times.
Another Health Care Reform Town Hall
by Steve on Sep.02, 2009, under Healthcare
We visited another Health Care Reform Town Hall. This one was presented by Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA). The event was held at Fontainebleu High School in Mandeville, Louisiana. The event was delayed by about 20 minutes as the portable PA system was faulty and nearly caught fire. Congressman Scalise Started the event by telling the participants that this was his sixth town hall since August recess began.
The main topic of the evening was the health care reform bill currently passed from house committee, designated HR3200. Congressman Scalise told the crowd that he voted against that bill. That remark gained loud applause from the people. He stated his strategy by saying; “I dont think we should break all the things that work in the name of fixing what doesn’t work.” He then presented the Republican answer, HR3400.
According to Scalise, HR3200 addresses specific issues to help with cost and covering the uncoveralble. The three main issues it addresses are:
- Allowing pooling. That is, allowing groups to form to negotiate with insurance companies;
- Buying across state lines; and
- Tort Reform.
Scalise then turned the floor over to Mr. Allen Levine, the Louisiana Secretary of Health and Hospitals. Secretary Levine discussed many of the provisions in HR3200 and why he thought they would be bad for the health care system. He then returned the floor to Congressman Scalise who covered a few more topics before opening the floor to questions.
Here are a few photos of some of the radicals in attendance:
